TV & Film

I write TV and film scripts, and recently I’ve been getting some awards and recognition for them. My half-hour sci-fi comedy THE OUT-OF-TOWNERS was the Runner-Up in the 2020 Shore Scripts TV Pilot Contest. In 2022, my hour-long comedy thriller pilot THE CONTROL was optioned by Team Coco and slated for production as an Audible Original narrative podcast. Most recently, I was selected as a finalist for the 2023 Cassian Elwes Independent Screenwriting Fellowship for my dark comedy feature-length THE WAR HAWK.

Below you can check out the loglines of the stories I just mentioned. If you’d like to read any of these scripts, email me about it and I’ll send the materials your way.

THE OUT-OF-TOWNERS

In a sleepy oceanside town overrun by bizarre (but harmless) creatures and put under military lockdown, a single father looks for ways to help his 10-year-old daughter as she exhibits stranger and stranger behavior.

From the Black List (review score 8/10): “It never ceases to be impressive how this script maintains its tonal balance. This is a mystery dramedy, and the writer successfully jumps between bizarre humor, ominous conspiratorial plot developments, and a fractured but deeply touching emotional arc between a father and daughter. Like a sci-fi "Search Party," THE OUT-OF-TOWNERS feels like it has the potential to be among the best of the pseudo "Lost" clones that have persisted over the past ten years of television.”

THE CONTROL

A former employee for a shadowy CIA human experimentation program wakes up in the middle of nowhere with a tranquilizer dart in her neck. As she sets out for answers, she finds herself on a slippery slope even further down the rabbit hole.

From the Black List (review score: 9/10): This pilot is imaginative, unique, and well-written in every way. This is an insanely original and impressive concept for a comedic thriller. The setting has an air of THE WIZARD OF OZ and LAST MAN ON EARTH in that you feel a calm hopelessness within beautiful surroundings, and then Emma comes in as a disruptor with her drive to get home. The tone evoked in these pages is mesmerizing and makes for a great read.”

THE WAR HAWK

After a scandal destroys his illustrious college basketball coaching career and forces him to take a gig as an assistant coach at a community college, a desperate man schemes to get the head coach fired and reclaim the top job for the sake of his struggling family.

From the Black List (review score 8/10):This script is a heartwarming journey that asks us to consider the classic question of whether the ends justify the means, wrapped up in quirky details that feel fresh and make for an incredibly entertaining read. This writer consistently makes bold choices that stand apart from a classic narrative style, and those choices strengthen the script. Tonally, this film walks a fine line. It's darkly comedic, yet it isn't afraid to tackle complex themes.”
